Map and walking

Emunah walks you anywhere on the map one confirmed step at a time, through the same checks as every other command. It keeps the crowd-sourced Achaea map up to date, and turns every line that says where someone is into a link you can walk to.

goto bank # the nearest room with a bank
goto 1234 # a room by number
goto fish street # the nearest room with that name
goto sarapis # where someone was last located
stop # pause, keeping the route
go # carry on from wherever you are
rf tavern # find rooms by name, by area
rl # everything the map holds about this room

Walking

emset goto <where>, or just goto, takes a room number, a feature such as a bank or a shop, an area, a room's name, or a person. Double-clicking a room on the map walks there too.

Each step is sent only when the last one has arrived and the game has sent the prompt that ends the move, and goes through the same gate as every other command, so a walk waits out stun, sleep, paralysis or a lost balance instead of walking into them. If you end up off the route, or the game refuses an exit, the walk plans again from where you are. A step that draws no arrival is sent again after map.retryAfter; after two retries the walk stops and says so. Steps are never closer together than map.stepGap. Both keep the game from answering "Now now, don't be so hasty!", and when it does, the step is tried again the moment Emunah's pause after it ends.

The route handles what the world puts in the way:

The end of the prompt shows where a walk is going and the steps left, then that it arrived. The room panel shows the same, with links to stop or carry on, and the map lights the route, brightest at the destination, clearing each room as you pass it.

Stopping and carrying on

stop pauses a walk and keeps its route; go carries on from wherever you are. With nothing walking, both go to the game as typed. emset goto back walks back to where the last walk started.

When a walk meets trouble

During a goto, a red mark on the prompt says an enemy is in the room (map.enemyMark). Losing more than map.bigHit of your health in one blow (33% by default) raises a warning and walks you out of the area. F12, or emset flee, stops any hunt and walks you to your safe room, map.safeRoom.

Finding your way

TypeTo get
rf <text>Rooms whose name contains the text, grouped by area. Click a number to walk there.
rl [number]Everything the map holds about a room, here by default: exits, special exits as Emunah reads them, locks, weights, features, and how far it is.
emset areas [text]Every area with its room count, or those matching the text.
emset rooms <area>An area's rooms by number, each one a link.
emset path <to> [from]The route between two rooms, without walking it.
emset where [person]Where people were last located, newest first.

Locator lines

Lines that say where someone is (farsee, view, mindsense, allsight, alertness, your guardian angel, shrines, shops and WHO) get the room numbers they name added as links. Who was where is remembered for emset where and goto <person>, and their room stays lit on the map for map.trackFor (five minutes by default). map.locators chooses which of these lines are read; emset map locators applies a change at once.

Keeping the map current

The map is the crowd-sourced Achaea map, the same one the IRE Mudlet Mapper uses. Emunah checks for a new version when it loads and every hour (map.checkEvery), shows what changed, and loads it, waiting for any walk to finish first. emset map update checks now.

As you walk, a room whose name, environment, indoors or outdoors, or area disagrees with GMCP is corrected (map.gmcpSync). While the IRE Mudlet Mapper package is running, it keeps the map up to date itself, and Emunah leaves that to it.

Your own changes

Rooms you lock or weight, and features you mark, are kept outside the map and put back after every update, so a new crowdmap never loses them.

emset map lock 1234 north # keep one exit out of every route
emset map lockarea the sewers # keep a whole area out
emset map weight 1234 5 # avoid a room unless it saves more than 5 steps
emset map feature add bank # mark this room as a bank
emset map # the map's version, the last check, and your overlay

On screen

The map sits below the chat and follows you. emset map size small|big|biggest gives it 30%, 50% or 70% of the window's height; ui.mapFloat detaches it into a window of its own. Every map setting is in the command reference.
