Fighting alongside allies

A partner is someone you fight beside. Emunah keeps them out of every targeting path, follows the target they call, tells you when they arrive or leave in the middle of a fight, and tells you who is attacking you and as what class, so the two of you can play to each other's strengths.

emset ally add anzerloi # a partner, and an ally in the name database
emset ally # partners, who is here, the last call, who is attacking you
emset ally remove anzerloi

Partners are never targets

Adding a partner marks them an ally in the name database, which is what PvP asks before it accepts any target. So neither t, a typo, a call, nor a name read from game text can ever point an attack at them. Removing a partner leaves their standing as it was; emset iff <name> auto hands it back to their city.

Where they are

While you are fighting, in a PvP session or with someone attacking you, Emunah says when a partner arrives or leaves the room: a partner leaving in the middle of a fight changes the fight. Out of a fight it stays quiet, because walking together they arrive in every room you do. emset ally shows which partners are here, as far as the game's room list admits.

Their target calls

A partner's message on any channel can set your PvP target. Each pattern in allies.calls is a Lua pattern that captures the name being called, so a partner who calls targets in party as Target: Sarapis is read with:

emset allies.calls Target:? (%a+)

The pattern is matched anywhere in the message, which arrives as the game shows it, such as (Party): Anzerloi says, "Target: Sarapis". None ship, because how a partner calls a target is up to them and their system. A call from anyone who is not a partner is ignored, and a call naming an ally, or you, is refused just as PvP refuses it. With allies.follow off, a call is said but your target is left alone. emset ally shows the last call and how long ago it came.

Who is attacking you

With EmunahTriggers.xml installed, the reference system's attack lines for every class it knows name the attacker, so Emunah knows who is fighting you and as what: an Alchemist's wracks, a Bard's songs, a Monk's kicks, a Sylvan's winds, and the rest. The first line from someone new is announced, as "Sobriquet is attacking you as an Alchemist.", and emset ally lists everyone who has attacked you in the last minute. emset pvp shows your target's class from the same source when the name database does not already know it.

Working together

What one of you lands, the other does not have to. A Priest's chasten goes for whatever a lock on your shared target still lacks, so with a Bard partner giving asthma, slickness and impatience, it carries the paralysis that shuts their tree (see building a lock). emset pvp shows which of the target's routes are shut and what the lock still needs, whoever gave it.

Not yet

Nothing is sent to a partner for you: no party calls, no shared reports. And a partner's own attacks are not yet read as landing on your shared target, because that needs their attack lines as you see them. Both are on the roadmap.
